'Twas the night before Christmas and if you think I'm going to compose some cutesy Clement Moore knock-off poem, you've come to the wrong blog.
The upside to starting a new job right before Christmas is that there's plenty of food (and at this library -- booze!) and plenty of good cheer.
The downside to starting a new job right before Christmas is that you never quite know the Christmas ettiquette. I passed out a few cards to the department heads here, but I actually got a present from my boss. I didn't get her a present, just a card. In retrospect, that was a mistake.
I guess there's always next year, right. Then again, my predecessor didn't last a whole year here. But I intend on staying a long time.
